TIME TO LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR KIDNEYS

KIDNEY FILTERS 150 LITRES OF WATER PER DAY!!!!

·       34 million Indians have various kidney diseases, and another 43 million are at risk.
·       More than 23, 51,000 people are on a dialysis machine for survival.
·       More than 2, 57,000 people are on waiting list for kidney transplant.
·       Two people die every two hour while waiting for transplant.

Why Are The Kidneys So Important For The Body?
Two bean shaped organs perform one of the most important functions to keep our body running smoothly. They are responsible for eliminating the harmful waste, toxins and excess water from the body. Kidneys act as filters that cleanse   harmful substances that enter the blood. They also play a key role in maintain fluid and electrolyte balance in the body, which is utmost important for the normal functioning and overall health of the body. These accumulated toxins can affect the normal function of the kidneys and can cause several health complications.
In India only 8.6% people are aware about the seriousness of various chronic kidney diseases (CKD) and kidney failure far less than that for cancer and heart problems. Lack of awareness keeps people away from taking preventive/defensive steps and seeking timely and sufficient treatment in the case of early stages of kidney disease.

Cost of Treatment
Cost for treatment for kidney failure is very high in India. The cost of getting dialysis (artificial purification of blood in case of kidney failure until transplantation 13-15 dialysis per month) would be around Rs. 15000-17000 per month. Transplantation cost around Rs. 3-4 lakhs on an average. Still success rate would be some time very low. Availability of the suitable donor is very rare. After the successful transplantation, recurring costs may vary from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 12000 per month depending upon the condition of the patient.
A normal person in India cannot afford this extremely costly treatment. The problem is compounded by the fact that kidney failure is incurable. This puts a perennial load on the patient and his/her family. This is the most important reason why only 2-3% of kidney failure patients in India get treated. He rest die a very inhuman death. Transplantation can give a lease of new life to the recipient. This is the direct result of lower awareness.
